A quick reminder that there is no school the rest of this week (Wednesday thru Friday). We hope you will have a great Thanksgiving Break.
American Fork High school will once again host their Light Night drive-thru light show. They do this as a fun family activity that also raises funds to support families in need. It will happen on December 3rd. See the flyer for location and times.
We have just a short two day school week and then it's Thanksgiving Break. As we had into the Thanksgiving Holiday, we want to take this opportunity to let you know just how thankful we are for all of you in our Highland community. Thanks for all you do to support us and make Highland such a great school.
What a great way to end this Connection week and head into Thanksgiving week - with a renewed focus on gratitude. It's fun to stop and read some of the things our students are thankful for hanging on each of these leaves.
Tomorrow is our final dress up day. Show your school spirit and Connect with Our School by wearing your favorite Highland t-shirt or hoodie. Teachers will be passing out friendship bracelets to each class to celebrate that we are all friends at Highland.
It is also our final day for the coat drive. Please drop off new and gently used coats and jackets at the school office. Thanks for helping us support those in need of extra warmth this winter.
What do you want to be when you grow up? What is your favorite college sports team? Tomorrow is Connect to Your Future. Wear your favorite college team jersey or dress up in something that shows what profession you want to have when you grow up. Please remember that all dress up outfits must still meet school dress code and students must have good athletic shoes for PE and recess.
As a side note - tomorrow's weather forecast has some rain and colder temps, be prepared and bring a jacket or coat for outside play. If your child is missing a coat or jacket it's probably in our lost and found - we have many items that get left on the playground each day.

We want to wish a Happy Educational Support Professionals Week to our wonderful support staff. Without each of these amazing people we'd be lost on the playground, looking for pencils, confused by math, and surrounded by missing work! They help our teachers with essential tasks, support student learning, and keep everyone safe. We are so thankful for each of you!

Birthdays are such a fun days at school. We have had some confusion about birthday visits, treats, and more. Please help us out by following these guidelines:
If coming to share a birthday lunch, you must have a background check.
Please do not send home party invitations from school; we don’t want students being sad for not being included.
Treats/food items must be store bought and enough for the entire class.
Please coordinate treat times with your child’s teacher.
We cannot accept balloons or large gifts as they are too much of a class distraction and they cannot go on the buses.
If you have any questions, please call the office.

A huge thank you shout out to our Lone Peak Police Department resource officers and Stand 4 Kind team for helping kick off Connection Week. Today we are connecting to our community.

The communication board (our Hawk Walk goal) was installed today. It has been a great hit! Students have been using it at every recess. Thank you community for your support of the Hawk Walk, helping us reach our goal, and providing this for our students.
Due to conflicting schedules with the Lone Peak Football semi-finals game, the Reflections Awards assembly has been cancelled. Teachers will be doing presentations in their classrooms and sending home the medals and certificates with students. We apologize for the late communication and hope you are able to adjust your Friday plans.
Chess club is off to a great start this year. We appreciate Mrs. Lewis and her time spent to teach strategies and host the chess club bracket. In March the chess club hosts a Human Chess Night. It's a great event to come and watch. Save the date - March 18th.
Honoring Veterans today. Thank you Miss Louw's class for continuing the service of placing flags at each Veteran grave at the cemetery. You can learn more about this Veterans' service project by reading the book "The Wall" and learning about the Cory Cosgrave Eagle Project Statue.
