Beginning in September, LPHS will be hosting an opportunity for our students to give of themselves as they provide humanitarian service during their lunch hour every Thursday. The Lunchtime Humanitarian Service Program is designed to help our students interact in a positive, safe environment while providing items for those in need. This is one of the few places that parents can have direct interaction with students in the secondary school realm.

We need as many parent volunteers as we can enlist. You are NOT required to come every week, but only as often as your circumstances allow. We would love to have you come as regularly as possible, but we understand that we are all busy.

Our projects are donated to both local and international humanitarian organizations. In the past we have:

  • Made blankets for homeless and refugee children,

  • Sent supportive letters to veterans and soldiers,

  • Made toys and educational materials for children in refugee camps,

  • Made sleeping mats donated to both local homeless and refugee camps,

  • Knitted hats on looms donated to homeless and refugee families,

  • Made educational materials for Utah Valley children in need.

Parent volunteers help the students learn the projects. We also take time to give the students special attention to help them interact well with each other and build their self-esteem as they learn to serve others together.

We will have an information/training meeting towards the end of September. Time, date, location will be announced soon.
